In Fritz Lang’s final film, the Weimar-era supervillain Dr. Mabuse awakens once again. After a reporter dies mysteriously in his car, Inspector Kras follows the clues left by the clairvoyant Cornelius to the Hotel Luxor, once converted by the Nazis into a surveillance post. The American industrialist Travers, the enigmatic Marion, and the salesman Mistelzweig are drawn into the case as well. As espionage, surveillance, clairvoyance, and horror intertwine, they must join forces to unravel the mystery behind the return of the long-lost criminal mastermind...

Fritz Lang (1890–1976), Austrian-born German director and screenwriter, is a leading figure of German Expressionist cinema. His work spans the silent era, the sound film, and his Hollywood years, and is best known for Metropolis, M, and the Dr. Mabuse series. As the Nazis came to power, he fled to the United States, where he continued to direct film noir and crime pictures. Late in life he returned to German cinema, closing his career as a director with The Thousand Eyes of Dr. Mabuse.
